Representation of Gender
Gender stereotypes are simplistic generalizations about the gender attributes, differences, and roles of individuals and/or groups.
Stereotypes can be positive or negative, but they rarely communicate accurate information about others. When people automatically apply gender assumptions to others regardless of evidence to the contrary, they are perpetuating gender stereotyping. Many people recognize the dangers of gender stereotyping, yet continue to make these types of generalisations. We see gender stereotypes regularly being reinforced in television drama.
Traditionally, the female stereotypic role is to marry and have children. She is also to put her family's welfare before her own; be loving, compassionate, caring, nurturing, and sympathetic; and find time to be sexy and feel beautiful.
The male stereotypic role is to be the financial provider. He is also to be assertive, competitive, independent, courageous, and career‐focused; hold his emotions in check; and always initiate sex.
These sorts of stereotypes can prove harmful; they can stifle individual expression and creativity, as well as hinder personal and professional growth.
The weight of scientific evidence demonstrates that children learn gender stereotypes from adults. As with gender roles, socializing agents—parents, teachers, peers, religious leaders, and the media—pass along gender stereotypes from one generation to the next.
Self-Assessment
Overall I found the task fairly difficult due to it being the first time i have done something like it. I found it difficult, more specifically, to explain the representation. I am able to identify things within the clip, but linking them to the representation of age. The structure of the writing was okay I thought but will need to adapt to the timing. Overall I believe my response was basic but nearly reaching good with a bit more argument.

Genre in Television Programming
What is Genre?
Genre is the groups that are existent in the world of media. These are what television shows are placed under when you look on things such as BBC iPlayer. There are many genres that also have sub genres such as entertainment containing a sub genre of quiz shows. You can also have hybrids which is the combination of two or more programmes such as a Childrens Factual Comedy T.V show such as Horrible Histories.
In the Exam we have to analyse an extract from the genre of Drama so I am going to list a few Drama T.V shows below:

My Television Viewing Preferences
The majority of T.V. shows that are usually ones that have a comedy feature about them. Whether this be a comedy sitcom such as 'Friends'. I also enjoy watching situation comedies such as Him&Her. I enjoy watching these shows because I find them easy to watch and find them funny. The next genre of film I tend to enjoy is the Drama genre. I enjoy to watch these sort of shows because they run for a long time and they are entertaining due to not fully knowing what will happen. The channels I find myself watching the most are ones such as BBC Three due to them being aimed at a younger audience. Also E4 as it broadcasts shows such as 'skins' and 'Misfits' which are Comedy Dramas.
